Badger
Ex RNLI lifeboat Badger was planning a new home in the Lake District when her owner contacted us. The thing was, she was a tad high for the normal motorway route. No problem. We know of a way - the "Lancashire High Route", a now little known line through the county which has been kept clear of low bridges and other hazards. Even so, we had to do a bit of tree pruning and telephone wire tweaking.
Why go round when you can go over. Badger takes a straight line through an otherwise tricky roundabout.
In fact we had two boats heading for Windermere that day so we made it a bit of a convoy. As well as a police escort in places we used an escort car to help ease the way.
Jack and Roger graciously prop up the vehicles whilst waiting for police escorts for a 2 boat convoy along the "Lancashire High Route".
The route was a bit 'scenic' in places and some humpback bridges made nice photos but gave our drivers a few more grey hairs.
Over the hump.
